One sees well only with Heart by UnUnPentium115 One sees well only with Heart by UnUnPentium115
This is something I like to do from time to time. Taking spontaneous portraits of people, without the whole studio-situation.

Although I still prefer animals because they usually don't act fake on pictures, it is interesting to take pictures of people from time to time.

This is my girlfriend Blanka. It was taken in Januar 2009 during our winter vacations that we spent together in Upper Austria.

What I'm especially interested in is: What do you think of this style of photographing people? By that I mean that I use a tele-lense and focus on the mere face with a strong focus on eyes and center face and a natural frame of clothes. A very similar picture is this one: "Behind Blue Eyes", which is however of an infant. I get mixed critique on this style, but I honestly like it very much.

Btw, if you wonder about the title. It is a part of a quote from one of my favorite books (a little odd you might think) "The Little Prince" from Antoine de Saint Exupéry. The full quote goes: "Here is my secret. It is very simple: one sees well only with the heart. The essential is invisible to the eyes. The essential things in life are seen not with the eyes, but with the heart."

_________
My internal ranking
:star::star::star::star::star-empty: - As I described, I like this style and photo also very much

Hehe, thanks. My girlfriend hates this photo and wants me to take it off DeviantArt. But I keep on telling her it's a good picture because it is. Thanks :)

She doesn't like such close-ups with merely the face on it. I love them though :)

She's a very beautiful woman and has no reasons to think like that.

nice moment, although would be much better if you cropped this as a square, in my opinion.

Well I always stick to 1,5:1. I'm not a huge fan of squares. Also I think that the bright background and the blonde hair give the picture in general a very bright feeling. Just the face would be too less in my opinion, but thatnks for your ideas!

noooo :D what happened to the photographer breaking all the rules? :P i also like sticking to 3:2, but squares are more compelling in a lot of cases i've seen. i guess i thought this wouldve been a clear example :/ i see what you're trying to say about the bright background, but i dont think its necessary. theres a lot more power in symmetry in both directions.....i guess it works both ways, just a matter of preference :)

Well, I will try to crop it again to see what a square looks like and tell you if it was better indeed :)

Since you're asking (:-P), I like the style of the "natural" frame, it's very good to give the face additional contrast, especially with some light coming from the back.
However, I hated that book, but that was probably because we had to read it in French.
Also, your girlfriend is beautiful!
